# About André Ramos

I'm André. Senior Software Engineer, based in Brazil, 10+ years in. The throughline of that decade is modernizing software that's already in production, without the luxury of starting from scratch: cutting load times, untangling monoliths, moving teams onto current tooling while the system keeps serving users. Most of that work in Angular, Ionic, and Node/NestJS, with stretches in Laravel, Python/FastAPI, and infrastructure. Right now I'm building a greenfield project as a freelancer.

I started in 2017 at a small agency, shipping 30+ institutional websites and a handful of mobile apps. In 2019 I joined a startup as its only engineer and spent two and a half years building its training app end to end: mobile in Angular/Ionic, backend in Laravel/MySQL, ERP integrations, store releases. Learning what shipping actually costs, with no one to hand it off to.

Between 2021 and 2023 I moved into consulting. At MJV, a facial-recognition integration for the Bradesco Seguros Cliente app and internal libraries shared across three products. At Ambev Tech, an admin dashboard in Angular/Python/FastAPI, focused on test coverage and the debt DataDog and Snyk kept flagging. Being a teammate instead of the whole team taught me how to contribute inside larger orgs without losing velocity.

In 2023 I returned to that same startup, now Bit Health, as Staff Engineer leading the internal team. That year is the case below: home load time from ~60s on 3G down to 2s, three monoliths consolidated behind one microservice, code review and automated testing introduced. In 2024 I took the Solutis engagement at Bradesco Seguros (a shared Angular/NestJS library, a Micro Frontends PoC), then went independent. Over time, deciding what to change and what to leave alone has come to matter more than the changing itself.
